Hudson Student Results for Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering Fair (March 15-18)

NEOSEF (Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering Fair) is a joint effort with the Cleveland Clinic, Great Lakes Science Center, and Cleveland State University and is affiliated with the Intel Talent Search. NEOSEF accepts students from schools in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties. There were 650 students and 300 judges at the event. 

 The Hudson students participated and had excellent results.
These students are listed below: 

 In the 11th/ 12th grade category:
Jiwon Lee received a 2nd place in Biology. 

 In the 9th/ 10th grade category:
Will Jack received a 2nd place in Engineering
Anisha Basu received a 2nd place in Behavioral Science 

Special Awards:
Will Jack received a special award from the International Society of Automation and from the United States/ Naval Marine Corps
Anisha Basu received a special award from the Cleveland State University Department of Health Sciences 

 In the 7th/8th grade category:
Ashley King received a 2nd place in Biology
Iulia Barbur received a 2nd place in Chemistry
Mario Milian received a 2nd place in Earth and Space Science 

Sam Gundling received a 2nd place in Physics
Johanne Egeland received a 2nd place in Chemistry 

Rachel Johnstone received a 3rd place in Medicine and Health Science
Christopher Zhang received a 3rd place in Physics
Evan Schlenk received an honorable mention in Math and Computer Science
Justin Redslob received and honorable mention in Engineering 

Special Awards:
Chris Johnstone received an award from the American Society for Information Science and Technology and from the Cleveland Regional Council of Science Teachers
Evan Schlenk received a special award from the American Statistical Association and from the Cleveland State University Department of Mathematics
Iulia Barbur received a special award from the SPEI: International Society of Advanced Light Based Research.

Hudson Student Results for Ohio Academy of Science District Science Day (March 20, 2010)

The Ohio Academy of Science has an Ohio State Science Day on May 8th. Feeding into it is fifteen districts that have a District Science Day.
Our district is the Western Reserve District 5. The district science day was last Saturday at the University of Akron.
There were about 350 students participating across the 5 counties in District 5; Cuyahoga, Summit, Portage, Geauga, and Lake counties.

Hudson had a great showing!

We are sending 11 students to the State Science Day on May 8th.

Projects that Placed:
Anisha Basu received 3rd place in Behavior and Social Sciences
Patrick Murphy/ Jennifer Shanks/Anne Kim received a 3rd place in Medicine and Health
Will Jack received a 1st place in Physics.

Special Awards:
Will Jack received a special award from the Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies, and award from The Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, and an award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Noah Marshall received a special award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
